href=\"\/tag\/casing-2\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Casing<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/a> helps to control this pressure by serving as a barrier between the <a href=\"\/tag\/drilling-fluid\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>drilling fluid<\/strong><\/a> and the formation fluids. This is achieved through the use of cement, which is <a href=\"\/tag\/pump\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pump<\/strong><\/a>ed into the annular space between the casing and the wellbore wall.
